REFLECTION & PRACTICE

The role you keep playing.

Explore when pleasing, performing, or always being strong begins to crowd out your own needs.

A familiar role can bring connection and stability. It can also become tiring when it feels like the only way you are allowed to be.

Consider one ordinary moment

  1. When uncertainty appears, do you tend to become the helper, the performer, the peacemaker, or the person who needs no help?
  2. What are you hoping will happen when you take on that role?
  3. What do you worry might happen if you respond differently?
  4. What need of your own becomes harder to express?
  5. Imagine a small variation: asking for time to think, accepting help, or stating a preference.

These roles are possibilities to explore, not labels that define you or prove a particular history.

A question to carry

Who could I be in this conversation if I did not have to perform my usual role?
